September 24 & 25, 2016 – Breathing Under Water – Week 3 – Scott Hodge

“We are all addicted in some way. When we learn to identify our addiction, embrace our brokenness, and surrender to God, we begin to bring healing to ourselves and our world. In Breathing Under Water, Richard Rohr shows how the gospel principles in the Twelve Steps can free anyone from any addiction—from an obvious dependence on alcohol or drugs to the more common but less visible addiction that we all have to sin.” –Breathing Under Water synopsis

In the third week of the series “Breathing Under Water,” Scott continues to explore the idea and practice of surrender; how we often mistake sacrifice for surrender, and how our understanding of God influences our ability, or lack thereof, to surrender.

This week, Scott continues the series “Breathing Under Water” by exploring the idea of faith and surrender as a journey, not just a moment, and how simple belief in God’s power can, as the twelve-steps say, “restore us to sanity.”

This week, Scott kicked off the series “Breathing Under Water” based on the best-selling book of the same name by Richard Rohr. Scott asks us to consider what things in our lives we are powerless over and sheds light on how Jesus’ paradoxical message of “surrendering to win” can transform our lives.

September 3 & 4, 2016 – Welcome Home – Scott Hodge

Welcome Home SH.001.jpeg

This week, the Orchard Tribe had its first gathering at our new Oak Street location. Scott aptly encouraged us to take this weekend to “catch our breath” and reminded us that as we encounter beginnings and endings, to prayerfully enter a space where we can repurpose worry and anxiety to bring us closer to God.
