On this first Sunday of Lent, our Lead Pastor, Scott Hodge takes us into the story of Jesus in the wilderness where he was tempted for 40 days (Matthew 4:1-11). Reminding us that Lent is a season where we are invited to spend time in the wilderness, Scott challenged our community to do so remembering our true identity as God’s beloved.

The Bible. For some, it’s a book that inspires and comforts. For others, it’s a book that feels confusing, overwhelming, and at times, even difficult. This Sunday, Scott Hodge begins a new series entitled, “The White Space” where we will be exploring questions such as, “Where did the Bible come from?”, “Why does there seem to be so many contradictions in the Bible?”, “Should the Bible be taken literally?” and much more.

Epiphany Title Card.003.jpeg

This Sunday, we continue the season of Epiphany – an “unveiling” or “the revelation” of God’s presence in a new way. In this week’s gospel from John 1:29-42, we find a theme of looking and seeing what might be overlooked and we see Jesus calling out and calling forth the best in all of us. Tammy Helfrich invites us to ask ourselves “what are you looking for?” and “where, in your life, is God asking you to experience God in a new way?”

This Sunday, we continue the season of Epiphany as Anna Hammond explains how the baptism of Jesus reveals his purpose and mission; showing us how God loves us. This act reminds us that “by wading into the water with them, Jesus took his place beside us,” which, in turn, shows us how we all belong to God.

January 5, 2020 – Epiphany – Week 1 – Scott Hodge

This Sunday officially marks the end of the Christmas season and the beginning of the season of Epiphany- the “showing forth” or “the revelation” of God’s presence to unlikely people in unlikely places. On this day the Church commemorates the journey of the wise men to seek the Christ child; we celebrate their arrival at the manger with longing in their hearts and gifts appropriate for the One who would be our king, our priest, and our Savior.

December 1, 2019 – Advent – Week 1 – Scott Hodge

advent 2019 title card wk1.jpeg

On this past First Sunday of Advent, Pastor Scott Hodge took us into the startling and disturbing words of Jesus found in Matthew 24:36-44 where we are called on to be present and “keep watch.” Every Advent season, we are pointed to this “apocalyptic text” that challenges us to give up our usual sources of illumination and our familiar ways of seeing, so that we may recognize and receive the God who comes to us in the most unusual and unexpected ways.
